The world is moving away from internal combustion engines towards electric vehicles. The Paris Agreement has dictated that the European Union must achieve a zero-emissions fleet by switching to electric vehicles and hydrogen cars by 2050, with many other countries expected to follow suit.
Furthermore, what comes to mind when you think of the largest construction projects in the world? Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, Jubail II Industrial City in Saudi Arabia and Dubailand in Dubai are currently three of the largest projects. Other projects include the International Space Station, South-North Water Transfer Project, China and the High-Speed Railway, California.
The Vision for Civil Engineering in 2025 challenges civil engineers, to rise to a new level of leadership and professionalism—to be entrusted by society to achieve a sustainable world and raise the global quality of life.
